Step by step

Your first session

You're all booked in for your first session, you should have received and completed your therapy agreement!

Your first session: If your session takes place over the phone, you will receive a call at the session time. If you are having video sessions, your call will take place over WhatsApp - your counsellor should have messaged you ahead of time to confirm your details. Alternatively, you will arrive at our Warrington office for in person sessions. There is free parking outside our office and seating at our ground floor reception until your therapist comes to greet you at your appointment time.

Your first session should include your therapist checking you have understood the therapy agreement, including the confidentiality, boundaries and expectations and cancellation policies. This session usually focuses around why you have accessed therapy at this time and your therapy goals going forward.

Booking an introductory call

If you would like to hear the voice of the person who you could be working with, or ask any questions you might have before you commit to sessions - this is a great option!

Free 15 minute intro call: This call is free and is a chat to see if the therapist you have chosen is a good fit for you.

Your therapist may do a wellbeing scale to check where you're at so they can better support you if you decide to work with us. They may ask about your reasons for attending therapy at this time, prior therapy, and go through confidentiality, boundaries and expectations and cost and payments.

If you agree to work together, after your call has ended they will follow up by email with a therapy agreement for you to complete and return before your first session.

Continued sessions

You're happy with your therapist and want to continue working together.

You can decide with your therapist a schedule that works for you. This can depend on your reasons for attending therapy, your finances or your availability.

You may wish to book the same slot each week, alternatively if you want flexible sessions you can book when suits you by getting in touch with your therapist by email or WhatsApp, also you can use our online booking form.

In continued sessions we will work together to dig deeper into your reasons for attending therapy and explore more in depth, looking at your experiences and what comes up for you. This is all taken at your pace in an environment where you feel safe and comfortable.
